Born in 1965, Mr. Dimitris Papamichail started his career in Goldair SA back in 1986 as an airport agent, serving both passengers and ramp departments at (old) Athens Hellinikon Airport.
In 1995, Mr.Papamichail was assigned as sales manager for Goldair SA of Northern Greece, based in Thessaloniki, achieving in quadrupling the company’s revenues within a short time period. Furthermore, Goldair’s Thessaloniki Office awarded as “the best General Sales Agent of South East European and Middle East region” by American Airlines for its top sales performance per annum, while Malev increased significantly its schedule to/from Thessaloniki during the same period.
In 2001, Mr.Papamichail joined Goldair Handling as Station Manager at Thessaloniki’s Int'l airport "Makedonia". Within his first five years, the company handled almost 40% of the airline's market share with positive financial results year by year.
In 2007, Mr.Papamichail was promoted to the position of Operations Director, based in Athens (new) "El.Venizelos" Int'l airport. Among the most important projects he successfully managed were: 1) winning the tender (2008) and start- up of Larnaca and Pafos airports in Cyprus for LGS (Louis-Goldair Services) 2) the setup of the PRM services (2008) for Athens Int' Airport; 3) the opening of 21 peripheral Greek airports (2010-2012) following the gradual liberalization of ground handling status in Greece 4) the opening of Sofia and Burgas airports in Bulgaria (2010-2012) on behalf of Goldair Handling Bulgaria, since the Bulgarian subsidiary company (by 100%) , awarded ground handling licenses for the above airports.
Since 2010, Mr.Papamichail holds the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Goldair Handling, for Greece and Bulgaria while he is also a Board member of the Cypriot JV, LGS.
